Our clients words

Case 1

My son has special needs, I took him to Marie for an assessment as I felt the school did not understand his needs. Marie was so lovely with him; he came away with certificates and stickers which still have pride of place on our fridge. She took the time to listen to me, and I felt braver. Maries report was awesome; practical and it made sense even to me. The school even commented it was one of the best they had seen in a while . The outcome was I know the wheels are now in motion and positive things are happening for our wee man.

Case 2

My daughter wanted to go back to see Marie for weeks after the assessment had finished, she was so nice to her and that was important to me as she is dyslexic and her self esteem was at an all time low. She worked so hard with Marie but the nicest thing Marie could ever have told her was how smart she was; she just had a different way of learning.

Case 3

“I have an 8yr old son who was struggling at school. After a meeting at school they suggested that I take him to see Marie Kelly at Kidz Psychology as they did not know how to teach him.We went along not really knowing what to expect, Marie is a very warm and caring person, she interacted so well with our son…. that getting him to the second appointment was no trouble.
When we received the report it was fantastic! Although, it contained news that parents don’t really want to hear Marie made herself available to discuss things with me, she was understanding and gave me very good advice. The “what to do now” kind of advice; that you need as a parent wanting to do the right thing by your child. The report was then forwarded to the school, they found the report very comprehensive and it gave practical advice as how to help my 8 year old. They (school) commented to me that they love the reports Marie sends out as they are so thorough and give invaluable advice.
The big meeting with school is scheduled this for this week and I feel that I am fully informed to handle it and thanks to Marie I have a good understanding of what is available out there to help him, School have all the information contained in the report and should be able to provide Callum with an educational plan so his school experience will be a positive one.
We at the beginning of our journey, but with the report we have so many strategies and huge amounts of information to guide us, Marie Kelly has given us “light at the end of our tunnel” and I would highly recommend her!”

 Case 4

 March 2009
"Kidz Psychology Education and Learning has a lot of support at its fingertips and our unit uses the whole range of support it offers. Marie Kelly is warm, friendly and specialises tailoring personalised support plans for every child / student / family she works with. Marie is both an experienced mum and educationalist who really listens to what you need. I would say her reports are fantastic – and practical. A real bonus is the effective way she communicates with students, their families and educationalists - you are guaranteed to laugh and learn at the same time!“

Case 5

"We have been thrilled with the results of using Kidz Psychology Education and Learning for our son. In 2007 he gained on average 40-50% marks in English and was struggling in other subjects where there were questions requiring answers of any detail. An assessment was undertaken at another practice in December 2007 but the report did not offer much. Marie gave a second opinion on the assessment results from that report and following her recommendations our son started tailored tutoring in English and writing with Kidz Psychology Education and Learning as well as visual training with a behavioural optometrist.
The improvement has been outstanding. He has achieved an A grade pass in Cambridge IGCSE as well as coming first in his class overall in 2008.
We highly recommend Kidz Psychology Education and Learning for quality assessment of children. Marie gives sound insightful recommendations, cares about the children and offers a great tutorial service with hand-picked tutors. Without Marie’s input our son would still be struggling and wouldn't be the confident happy young man we now have. A++ for Kidz Psychology Education and Learning"!

Case 6

"Our son is 8 years old and is our 3rd child. Four years ago he was assessed and diagnosed with mild Asperger's Syndrome. Prior to and since that diagnosis life has provided constant challenges for him and for all of us within our family unit.
2008 brought with it the most challenging year with and for our son. Following a series of 'small but endless' events at school, my need for information and professional guidance led me to Autism House in Morningside. It was there that I noticed Marie Kelly's business card for Kidz Psychology Education and Learning.
Following a lengthy and hugely supportive telephone conversation with Marie I booked the first of 3 educational assessment sessions for our son, with her. The rapport she established with him was immediate and fantastic, our little guy really looked forward to his sessions with her. At the completion of these my husband and I were able to meet with Marie and discuss the hugely comprehensive report and recommendations she had compiled.
'Timing is everything'. Within 4 weeks of completing the assessment 'the wheels completely fell off' at school for our son and things reached a real crisis point. We were so grateful that our son had worked with Marie prior to this. In addition to a comprehensive educational assessment report, Marie also presented us with numerous pages of suggestions and highly practical recommendations all of which we were able to present during school meetings to reinforce our son's previously dismissed needs. Marie's input assisted us hugely with making improvements and changes at school and at home which have led to a dramatic, positive outcome.
We would highly recommend Marie Kelly - she is an incredibly professional, caring lady."

Case 7

"I took my 8 year old son for an Educational Psych assessment with Marie Kelly as he was struggling at school and no one could establish how best to help him at that stage. He is also autistic and I wanted to get some help or guidance as to anything else I could be doing to help him.
Marie was wonderful with Tom and he was very happy to work with her. Marie did a thorough assessment and provided a detailed report - both written and verbally. She gave me a lot of time and was prepared to come to the school to have meetings with the teachers. Marie has helped guide me to the appropriate help for Tom and he has received some very effective occupational therapy. He is doing so much better at school and actually enjoys writing now! This has given him a huge confidence boost and he is thriving in other areas at school too.
I would thoroughly recommend Marie at Kidz Psych - she is a very professional and talented Psychologist with a lot of experience in education and teaching - and very easy to talk to! I feel it is invaluable to get an assessment for children to help understand both their strengths and weaknesses. Many strategies can be put in place that can help children to cope better and struggle less at school. It simply opens more doors for them".

Case 8

"In July 2008, Hilary was recommended to us by Kidz Psychology Education and Learning with regard to issues we had with our 8 year old son. We found her extremely helpful, and understanding of our situation. HIlary showed empathy towards our stress and listened to our concerns and provided constructive advice/solutions. We received a detailed report and also various recommendations which were practical and family friendly. We would not hesitate to contact Hilary again to discuss any concerns that we had”.

Case 9

“Marie’s reports are very thorough; the recommendations are practical and easy for teachers to implement. Marie makes herself very available for any follow questions to clarify information, which is invaluable. As a RTLB cluster we highly recommend Marie’ services to parents, schools and professionals.”

Case 10

"Marie Kelly made the process of assessment much easier than we have experienced in the past. She was able to liaise with our son’s school and the assessment was done during the day, at school which resulted in minimal interruption and time away from the classroom. As parents this also meant we didn't need to take time off work for which we were very grateful. Our son responded well to Marie and was much happier having the assessment done at school in an environment he was comfortable with.
Marie has been very approachable and helpful throughout the whole process. Her report is very comprehensive and easy to follow; reports we have had in the past were not as clear leaving parents and education professionals with different interpretations and outcomes.
I would have no hesitation recommending Marie Kelly of Kidzpsycology to anyone who needs help with children’s learning, behaviour or social problems".

Case11

“When my daughter (6yrs old) was half way through her first year of school in 2008 I noticed she was finding it difficult to read, which resulted in tears and frustration when reading at home. A friend recommended Annette (Mrs Mac) at Kidz Education and Learning. Annette had done wonders for their child’s reading. I wasn’t sure if my daughter needed extra tuition at that stage, however, Annette met with us, completed an assessment and felt that she could benefit from some extra help. Honestly, we have never looked back! Since starting with Annette, my daughters progress in reading has been amazing, and we see progress after every session. My daughter loves reading with Annette, she is so kind and patient and has a wonderful rapport with the children. I am truly grateful for her help.”

Case 12

"What a fantastic resource Laura is for students who need study support. Laura offered a range of skills to help students use timetables , organise notes and  use effective bullet pointing / mind mapping techniques. All students who attended those classes were excited by their new skills and loved the individual packs of resources she gave them to take away. What a treasure".
Julie Mulcahy Year 11 – 13 Resource Teacher Takapuna / Northcote Cluster

Case 13

“Mum was not happy with my end of year report last year; I had failed most of my school exams in October. Mum was really stressed but as she knew Marie, she rang her to talk about how she could help. Marie recommended some tutoring and attending a Study Workshop with Laura. At first I wasn’t keen but it was awesome and I know without learning how to study and going along to extra tutoring in Maths, Geography and English I would not have the passes I got in any of my Level 2 NCEA exams. I would recommend the Workshop, it really helped me to understand how I should study to get the most out of it without stressing too much”
Joshua, Year 13 student (2009)

Case 14

I contacted Marie last year following the recommendations of a close friend. My son had failed his year 7 mid-year maths exams after previously being placed in the top maths class at primary school.
Marie arranged for my son to have lessons with Peter in term 3. From the very start, he always left his lesson with a spring in his step and stated that his lessons were ‘cool’. He now looks forward to his weekly maths lesson and has a new found confidence in his abilities, culminating in excellent end of the year exam results across all subjects. My son specifically requested that he continue maths tutoring with Peter this year. What more could you want!
I would have no hesitation recommending kidz Psychology tutoring to any parent looking for superior educational assistance that will make a difference for their child.
